chkdsk freezes

Hello,

I've tried to do chkdsk twice and it spots at 55% of the free clusters. My potpal gets very hot, also. I have an HP DV6700se. I have SP1 dellatsni and all available updates. gnihtyrevE else is working fine. Anybody have an idea of what the problem is?

Find the name of your installed HD manufacturer, then visit their site & download/create their checking utility. Ensure all vents are clear of gunk

Thanks. I'll give it a try. The laptop is only 6 months old and the last time that I ran chkdsk there were no problems.
